HopTips Northwest: Mid-July, 2010

The weather’s great here in the Pacific NW proving once again, it’s the best place to live. Here are some great beer events to enjoy.

Wednesday Oostkant (Eastside) Cask Crawl happens every Wednesday at Malt and Vine, Black Raven Brewing and now at Three Lions Pub all in Redmond, WA – Stop by all three and try a different cask conditioned ale at each every Wednesday. Wednesday Tasting, 99 Bottles, Federal Way, WA – Stop by each Wednesday from 4pm – 8pm and taste 2 beers for $1. Info: www.99bottles.net.

July 20: 19th Annual Fred Eckhardt Beer and Cheese Tasting, Rogue Ales Distillery & Public House, Portland, OR. Join beer pioneer, Fred Eckardt as he pairs 10 beers and cheeses at this annual event. Info: www.rogue.com.

July 21: Sierra Nevada Brewer’s Night at the Dog and Pony Alehouse, Renton, WA. Join Chris Hem from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company as he shares some of their special beers. There will be the usual giveaways. Become a fan of The Dog and Pony on Facebook for more information and for upcoming events.

July 22: Oregon Brewers Brunch and Parade, Deschutes Brewery and Public House, Rogue Ales Distillery and Public House, Portland, OR. 10am Brunch, 11:30 Parade. The Brunch at Deschutes has sold out, but Rogue will be hosting an overflow brunch and then both groups will join the parade to the 23rd Annual OBF at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. July 22-25: 23rd Annual Oregon Brewer’s Festival, Tom McCall Waterfront Park, Portland, OR. – Taste beers from around the Northwest and beyond at this perennial favorite. Admission is free however taster package is required to consume beer. Info: www.oregonbrewfest.com.

July 23: 6th Annual Sasquatch BrewAm Golf Tournament, McMenamin’s Edgefield, Troutdale, OR. – Enjoy a round of golf with a celebrity brewer and benefit the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation brewing scholarship fund. Info: www.glenfalconerfoundation.org.

July 24: 21st Annual Sierra Brewfest, Nevada County Fairgrounds, Grass Valley, CA. 3pm – 6:30pm. Beers from over 25 microbreweries will be available at this festival, along with food and live music. This event benefits Music in the Mountains. Info: www.musicinthemountains.org/brewfest.php.

July 25: Brewer’s By the Bay, Depot Market Square, Bellingham, WA – 1pm – 5pm. This annual fund raiser for Bellingham Rotary Club will feature 30 breweries, food and live music. Info: www.bellinghambayrotary.com.

July 28: Brewer’s Night with Boulevard Brewing, Green Frog Tavern, Bellingham, WA. 6pm. Enjoy beers from this great brewery from the heartland of America. There will be the usual giveaways as well. Info: www.acoustictavern.com.

July 29: Brewer’s Night with Schooner Exact, Beveridge Place Pub, Seattle, WA. 7pm. 3 years ago BPP celebrated the world wide release of Schooner Exact. Stop by and see how they’ve grown in 3 years. 7 Great beers will be on draft as well as giveaways. Info: www.beveridgeplacepub.com.

July 31-Aug 1: 16th Annual Bones & Brew Festival, Rogue Ales Distillery & Public House, Portland, OR. This family and dog friendly event will celebrate the American Barbeque. July 31: Brewpublicrawl 2.0, Portland, OR. Meet the brewers at this pub crawl that will feature 4 stops in Portland. More than 17 brewers will be on hand at this 6 hour event which will start at the Red Fox, then move on to Seraveza, Overlook Lucky Lab, and end up at the Hop & Vine. Info: www.brewpublic.com.
